Summary from Goodreads:
Fed up with the antics of gods and their wars, the Archangel Gabriel takes refuge in a secret paradise. The only condition, he must protect Goddess’ treasure. Driven by pride and darkness, Lucifer seeks to build his army and overthrow the heavens at any cost. Elizabeth Montgomerie wrestles with the past, trying to build a future in a modern world. Will she be able to stop Lucifer and find herself amidst Angels and Avalon?
This book felt like a lot of stories in one. There are a lot of characters and a few different worlds. They all tie in together nicely but it was a lot for one book.
I would like to of gotten more information about Adamina’s kids. I felt like even though that got brought up multiple times, there was no resolution to it. I know the story is about Adamina and Gabriel but, the kids were an important part of the story too.
I feel like this would be a great series book. As a stand alone novel, it felt rushed. I really think there is much more story to tell here. I’m left with a lot to wonder about.
The story is fantastic though. It’s well written and will definitely draw you in. I guess that’s why I’m so bummed it ended the way it did. I wasn’t ready to leave Avalon or Adamina.
Adamina and Gabriel are star crossed lovers to say the least. It seems that no matter the situation, they will never be together the way they should.
There is religious tones to the book but they are used in a fantasy tone so it doesn’t feel preachy at all.
It felt like what it is; a story.
The world building was fantastic. Once again though, I still feel like there could have been so much more said.
While I very much enjoyed the book, I am disappointed that it rushed by the way it did. This book felt like it should have been more detailed and made into more than one book.
I’m told by the author that it is the first book in a series. However, there is still too much in this one book. A lot of the events should have been slowed down instead of all crammed into the one book.
So, I’m giving it 4 stars.
